BBC tease new documentary as Rangers vs Celtic fallout continues

The BBC have teased a trailer for a documentary following what happened between Rangers and Celtic fans in the full-time scenes at Ibrox on Sunday.

Rangers were knocked out of the Scottish Cup on penalties by their Old Firm rivals, with James Tavernier and Djeidi Gassama missing the decisive spot-kicks.

As several Celtic fans spilled onto the pitch, some of the Bears’ supporters retaliated by charging towards the away end.

It was an unsavoury end to a fairly uneventful match as Scottish football unfortunately reared its ugly head in G51 once again, and both sets of fans should be ashamed of their actions.

BBC teases new documentary on ‘ultras’

The terrible scenes we saw at Ibrox will have huge ramifications, and Old Firm games may not have away supporters in stadiums for a long time.

BBC Scotland posted on X that a documentary called ‘Ultras’ will be released on BBC iPlayer on 17 March.

The three-part series is narrated by actor Mark Bonnar, and will focus on die-hard Scottish football fans who take supporting their team to an extreme level.

While this has obviously been filmed way before Sunday’s events, it’s definitely not a coincidence that they decided to promote it now.

Rangers fans should not have reacted the way they did, but their anger towards the match is definitely justified.

Celtic had several key players missing, with Arne Engels, Alistair Johnston and Cameron Carter-Vickers all unavailable.

Although the Light Blues dominated proceedings, they were unable to find a way past the Hoops, who defended resolutely.

Although Rohl deserves to have a chance to lead the team next season, Rangers fans have the right to be angry after they’ve seen their campaign implode in the space of three weeks.

However, they need to showcase their frustration in a much more controlled manner.
