BlueCo will be worried after what Chelsea fans chanted at Stamford Bridge in win vs Pafos

Chelsea fans again expressed their frustration with the owners of the club during Wednesday’s Champions League win over Pafos.

The Blues rode out 1-0 winners on the night, after Moises Caicedo nodded in the winner from a second-half corner.

Frustration has been building with Chelsea’s owners BlueCo for some time, after the circumstances that surrounded Enzo Maresca‘s departure.

Maresca agreed to part ways with Chelsea at the start of the month amid internal issues with the board that had seen the Italian publicly speak out.

Chelsea hired Liam Rosenior from sister club Strasbourg, and the manager has overseen an up-and-down start.

Chelsea began the game in fine form, and thought they had taken the lead after just 17 minutes when Enzo Fernandez nodded home.

Referee Erik Lambrechts disallowed Fernandez’s goal for a push, however, a decision that did not go down well with the midfielder.

And the frustration appeared to stifle Chelsea’s momentum, with Rosenior‘s team failing to create many, if any, chances.

In fact, Pafos went closest in the first half when Jaja’s shot deflected off Reece James and onto the post.

Jorrel Hato‘s thumping strike before the break was saved well by Jay Gorter, and the Dutchman would be unbeatable until Caicedo’s breakthrough in the second half.

Ahead of half-time, however, BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, who was reporting live at the game, revealed some disgruntlement in the stands.

“There have been a smattering of chants for former owner Roman Abramovich chants after Pafos hit the post but seems a vocal minority thus far,” he wrote.

BlueCo risk huge protests

BlueCo‘s unpopularity at Stamford Bridge is nothing compared to the way they are perceived in France.

Before Strasbourg’s 2-1 win over Metz on Sunday, more than a thousand fans took to the streets to march together and protest the ownership group.

And for good reason – the Ligue 1 club serve as a vehicle for Chelsea, providing them with their new manager, developing their players, and always remaining the second priority in the eyes of BlueCo.

The tide now appears to be turning among Chelsea fans, too, with many becoming frustrated with the decisions taken at Stamford Bridge.

The coming months will be key at both clubs, with BlueCo’s perception not looking favourable in either case.
