'Brilliant' - James McFadden wowed by what Rangers player does elsewhere after transfer
James McFadden believes Lyall Cameron is a brilliant signing for Aberdeen after leaving Rangers on loan in the winter transfer window.
The Scottish midfielder will spend the rest of the season at Pittodrie Stadium after struggling for game time at the Gers.
Danny Rohl may still have faith in Cameron, with the Light Blues unwilling to include a buy option in the deal with Aberdeen.
Findlay Curtis is also on his way to Kilmarnock to further his development away from the Glaswegian outfit, and fans in G51 will certainly keep an eye on how the Scottish duo get on.
Lyall Cameron shows character after Aberdeen move from Rangers
McFadden has been wowed by the fact that Cameron is willing to prove himself instead of sulking at the Gers.
The Scotsman’s move to Aberdeen also comes with the added pressure from supporters in Pittodrie, who have a bitter rivalry with the Ibrox faithful.
Also, the fact that the Dons are effectively developing a player for the Glaswegian outfit hasn’t gone down well among some fans in AB24.
Speaking on Open Goal on 22 January, McFadden said, “I think it’s a brilliant signing. I also think it shows you his character, that you’ve got a player, he’s not daft, he understands the situation, that’s happy to go and do that.”
The former Scotland international added, “He’s willing to go and take it, and he’s got a point to prove. He wants to go prove he’s a good player. And the fact he’s strong enough to go, ‘I know I’m going to get stick, I don’t care’.”
Kieran Dowell is another player who’s on his way to Hull City, and it looks like the Govan side are now focusing on their departures after signing Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens and Andreas Skov Olsen earlier in the window.
Danny Rohl must sanction another loan exit to boost player confidence at Ibrox
Derek Cornelius is expected to return from injury at Ibrox soon, but John Souttar will unfortunately miss a few weeks after picking up a knock.
Emmanuel Fernandez has done well at Rangers in recent weeks, while Nasser Djiga has returned after going to AFCON with Burkina Faso.
Apperances 3 Starts 0 Minutes per game 16 Interceptions 0.7 Tackles per game 0.3 Total duels won 0.7 (67%)
Rohl may be looking to sign a new centre-back in the coming weeks to add more depth to the backline, while sending Clinton Nsiala on loan to get him playing regular football again.
The French defender has looked a bit shaky in his recent outings for the Glaswegian outfit, and he will undoubtedly benefit from a temporary move away to boost his confidence.
