Bruno could now quit Man United after manager deal completed - expert

Ruben Amorim’s sacking at Man United may speed up the departure of captain Bruno Fernandes.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Fernandes will be “unhappy” at Amorim’s sacking.

Man United have appointed Michael Carrick as caretaker manager until the end of the season after agreeing terms in a deal that will see him be assisted by ex-England and Chelsea number two Steve Holland.

Fernandes turned down a move to Saudi Arabia last summer, but the 31-year-old is still being linked with an Old Trafford exit.

Bruno Fernandes ‘will be looking’ for Man United exit route

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Fernandes could leave Man United at the end of the season.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Fernandes has lost some power at the club following the sacking of Amorim.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Look, I think Bruno would probably be looking more closely now at the Saudi deal, to be honest. I think he will.

“I think that he’ll be unhappy with this. He knew that he was the main link between Amorim and the dressing room, I think. But I think he will see perhaps his power eroded to a degree.

“And he obviously had his colours very firmly nailed to the Amorim mast and a lot of that formation was around playing Bruno Fernandes in that 3-4-3 system. So, look, I think he will be looking, I think he will be unhappy. He’s had his time in the sun now.

“He’s a key player for United, but I do think he may be looking more, his agent and himself, may be looking a bit more eager to go. Probably at the end of the season, I would think.”

Marcus Rashford stance revealed after Ruben Amorim sacking

Fernandes may not be the only high-profile departure from Man United at the end of this season.

Marcus Rashford has no plans to return to Man United when his loan spell at Barcelona expires, with the 28-year-old wanting to join the Spanish club permanently.

Rashford was not favoured under Amorim, and a change in the dugout does not look to have changed his stance on his Man United future.
