Cardiff City vs Stockport County postponement latest as Met Office issues Welsh weather warning
Cardiff City are set to host Stockport County on Saturday in a crucial tie in the race for promotion in League One.
The Welsh side have had a fantastic season to date and comfortably sit at the top of the table, six points clear of Lincoln City in second.
Brian Barry-Murphy’s side have been in magnificent form, with Cardiff City even reaching the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, before they were knocked out by Chelsea.
This has resulted in many of Cardiff’s players being linked away in recent weeks.
However, with Stockport County needing a win to potentially rise to third, the Welsh side could be set for a tricky game.
Nevertheless, the weather could result in the match being postponed, with the Met Office now issuing a weather warning for Saturday.

Met Office issues weather warning for Cardiff City vs Stockport County
Issues with the weather have caused problems for multiple EFL fixtures this season, and Saturday could see a repeat of this.
The Met Office on 22 January has issued a weather warning for South Wales due to expected periods of heavy wind and rain.
The warning suggests that there could be delays to road and rail travel, with some bus and train journeys expected to take longer.
On top of this, coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and possibly large waves.
However, the website also clarifies that this should only last between 2am on Friday and 9am on Saturday.
With the warning also only being a yellow one, the game should likely go ahead without any issues, barring any late changes to the weather.
Cardiff City’s record vs Stockport County explained
Cardiff City have rarely faced Stockport County in their history.
Saturday’s meeting will only be the 16th fixture between the two sides, with the reverse tie ending 1-1 earlier in the season back in September.
The Welsh side will be aiming to beat the Hatters for the first time since 2002, with the last two meetings ending in draws.
Traditionally, Cardiff have got the better of Stockport, beating them five times, while the two sides have drawn eight of their previous fixtures.
Now, Barry-Murphy will be looking to take inspiration from Cardiff’s previous wins to take another step closer to returning to the Championship next season.
