Celtic next manager: Odds slashed for Scottish Premiership boss to take over in latest Parkhead twist
Celtic could be on the hunt for a new manager at the end of the season, with Martin O’Neill’s long-term future not a guarantee.
While the boss has turned results around in recent weeks, results have not been anything to shout about, with Celtic only beating sixth-tier Auchinleck Talbot 2-0 on Sunday in the Scottish Cup.
On top of this, reports indicate that O’Neill is unlikely to stay at Celtic past the current campaign, opening the door for yet another appointment in the summer.
As a result, plenty of names are linked to the post, with Jens Berthel Askou increasingly likely to make the move.
Odds shorten for Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou to move to Celtic
Askou has had a wonderful season so far at Motherwell.
The manager currently has the Steelmen fourth in the Scottish Premiership, and the club progressed in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on the weekend with a 1-0 win over Ross County.
Throughout the campaign, Askou has masterminded plenty of sensational results, including a 2-0 win over Celtic at the end of December.
As a result, Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Askou has emerged on Celtic’s radar, with the manager “ticking a lot of boxes”.

Now, according to one bookmaker, Askou is now just 12/1 to come into Parkhead ready for the first game of the 2026-27 campaign.
Oddschecker on 21 January have confirmed that these odds have been slashed, making the Motherwell manager the fourth favourite.
Who is the current favourite for the Celtic job?
As it stands, O’Neill has remained the favourite to be in charge of Celtic for the start of the 2026-27 campaign.
Despite his odds drifting, the current manager remains 7/4 to stay in the dugout.
Following this, international managers Roberto Martinez and Steve Clarke are second and third favourite at 5/2 and 8/1.
O’Neill’s assistant manager Shaun Maloney is also 8/1 after he joined Cetic’s coaching staff in the summer.

Remaining in the race is Robbie Keane at 10/1. The current Ferencvaros manager has impressed out in Hungary after continuing to win titles outside of the UK.
However, it remains to be seen if the ex-Celtic star will return to Scotland in the summer, with the former Republic of Ireland striker linked to numerous jobs throughout the UK.
