Champions League: Ademola Lookman’s Atletico Madrid to battle Nigerian trio in semifinal

Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman will battle Arsenal in the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League with his Atletico Madrid side, Soccernet.ng reports.

​Lookman was the hero for Atletico Madrid as they sealed their progression to the Champions League semifinals at the expense of Barcelona on Tuesday.

​The Super Eagles star scored Los Rojiblancos' only goal of the game after they had gone two goals down in the first 24 minutes. That strike was just enough to see them through with a 3-2 aggregate win.

​However, they had to wait until Wednesday night to know their opponents for the semis. They already had an idea, though, as they were on the same side of the draw as Arsenal and Sporting CP. The winner would be whoever emerged victorious after the second leg was concluded.

​Arsenal held a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg, so they just needed to avoid defeat in the second leg, and they did just that. The game ended goalless at the Emirates Stadium.

​So, that means the Gunners will play Atletico Madrid for a ticket to Budapest.

​Ademola Lookman to Battle Nigerian Brothers

​The game between Atletico Madrid and Arsenal will feature four Nigerian players. While Ademola Lookman will be in Atletico Madrid colours, Arsenal will feature Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke.

​However, while Lookman decided to play for the Super Eagles, the other three opted to play for the Three Lions.

​When both teams meet, there surely won't be any love lost between the four superstars. They will be expected to do everything possible to ensure that their team emerges on top over the two legs.

​Meanwhile, in the other semifinal clash, Bayern Munich will take on PSG. The first leg of the games will be played between April 28 and May 5.

​Atleti will first welcome the Gunners to the Estadio Metropolitano, while the second leg will be played at the Emirates.
