Relegation-threatened Werder Bremen and Hamburg braced for high-stakes Nordderby
Hamburg are currently in the better position, six points clear of the relegation play-off position, but their recent form has seen them slip back into trouble after they looked to be steering clear of the battle for survival.
The 4-0 loss to VfB Stuttgart last time out means they have now won just one of their past seven games, which came directly after a run of five matches unbeaten. Scoring goals has not been an issue recently – that aforementioned defeat was only the second time in the last 10 games that HSV have failed to find the back of the net – but no clean sheet in nine is a worrying stat for head coach Merlin Polzin.
