Chris Sutton hails ‘outstanding’ Viljami Sinisalo after incident in Celtic’s win vs Aberdeen
Celtic returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Aberdeen.
It was a crucial win for Martin O’Neill’s men as they leapfrogged Rangers to go second and move to within five points of Hearts.
However, it was far from a convincing display, with the Dons pushing the visitors all the way.
While players like Liam Scales had poor games for Celtic, Viljami Sinisalo was one of the standouts for the Hoops, with Chris Sutton quick to praise the goalkeeper.

Chris Sutton: Viljami Sinisalo made an outstanding save vs Aberdeen
Sinisalo’s move into the starting XI has been a major success so far.
The goalkeeper came into the lineup last week during their 1-0 victory over Stuttgart after Kasper Schmeichel’s poor run of form.
So far, in his three starts, Sinisalo has impressed and easily produced his best moment against Aberdeen.
Just before half-time, with the scoreline still locked at 1-1, Kevin Nisbet rose highest from a cross and directed a header goalwards.
The ball looked like it was set to hit the back of the net, but Sinisalo produced an acrobatic stop to keep the ball out.

As a result, when giving his review on the game via X on 4 March, Sutton was quick to praise the goalkeeper for his “outstanding” stop.
He said: “Great three points for Celtic but a really tired performance. Tough watch in truth.
“Sinisalo with an outstanding save. Maeda with a shocking miss. Well played Benjamin Arthur thrown in at the last minute and played very well.”
How good was Sinisalo vs Aberdeen?
Sources recently told Football Insider that Schmeichel’s form and contract situation has led to Celtic hunting for a new goalkeeper.
However, based on the emergence of Sinisalo, this could be about to change.
According to Fotmob on 4 March, the keeper had a solid game against Aberdeen and was a big help in claiming the three points on the road.
While he had little to do apart from the one save and the penalty, he still performed nine recoveries and completed 65 per cent of his passes.

As a result, if he keeps this up, there is every chance he could become Celtic’s number one goalkeeper for the foreseeable future.
However, only time will tell if Sinisalo is able to continue to develop in the first team or if he is viewed as just a short-term solution to their current keeping woes.
