Crystal Palace want compensation as Tottenham ready Oliver Glasner hire after ‘extraordinary’ latest
Tottenham are prepared to make a move to hire Oliver Glasner.
Now 22 games into the season, many have been left wondering as to why Thomas Frank has not been sacked yet, with Spurs having shown no signs of progression under the former Brentford boss.
Tottenham’s latest 2-1 defeat to West Ham showcased that, with Spurs having the fourth-worst home record in the Premier League.
Frank is now at serious risk of facing the sack, with a new update from Crystal Palace showcasing where Tottenham may look next.
Tottenham will have to pay to land OIiver Glasner
As things stand, Crystal Palace have no interest in sacking Glasner, despite their current wretched run of form, and the “extraordinary weekend outburst” from the manager where he slammed the owners for their way of recruiting.
The Eagles are winless in their last 10, having suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Sunderland last time out.
With that said, their form hasn’t deterred Spurs from holding an interest in Glasner, with Alan Nixon reporting via his Patreon that they want to move for him before the end of the season.
If Tottenham were to make a move for Glasner, and if Crystal Palace delayed the sack, the North London outfit would have to pay compensation.
Nixon has not put a figure on that compensation, but insists it would be a “decent” sum of money required to prize him away from Selhurst Park, despite the fact that his contract is up at the end of the campaign.
Who else is in running to become next Tottenham boss?
As of right now, Glasner remains the favourite to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fans will undoubtedly be cautious over that, given the fact that it would be a very similar transition to the one made by Frank after he left Brentford.
Also among the favourites are Mauricio Pochettino and Xabi Alonso, the latter of whom would likely be most people’s go-to option
Alonso led Leverkusen to an unbeaten season just a few years ago, but failed to live up to the high expectations as Real Madrid manager.
However, his reputation and style of play would surely lift the gloom off the ground in North London.
