Danny Rohl reacts to possible Rangers signing, news emerges of transfer hold-up

Rangers might face a slight delay before announcing the signing of Andreas Skov Olsen from VfL Wolfsburg.

Skov Olsen could potentially have to wait for his medical in Glasgow despite initial suggestions that it could be conducted on 15 January.

The 40-cap Denmark international was highly sought after a year ago due to his impressive performances at Club Brugge, but the 26-year-old has struggled for form in Germany.

Now, Skov Olsen is on his way to Ibrox after the Glaswegian outfit struck a loan-to-buy agreement with the Bundesliga outfit, which includes an option to buy for £8.5million this summer.

Danny Rohl confident about Andreas Skov Olsen signing at Rangers

Danny Rohl was coy when asked about Skov Olsen’s potential arrival at the Gers, but there seems to be no issue about it.

The German manager claimed that things look “positive” regarding the winger’s loan move to Ibrox until the end of the season.

Once the Danish forward is announced, he will be the third addition to the Light Blues’ squad after Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens.

Speaking to the media on 15 January, Rohl said, “I’m not a good poker player. We’re in the process. It looks very positive. As long as it’s not confirmed, I can’t tell you too much.”

Apart from incomings, fans in G51 are also expecting several players to leave, including the likes of Danilo and Nedim Bajrami, who have been transfer-listed.

It will be interesting to see how the new signings will fit into Rohl’s plans, with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss confident of competing with Hearts for the title.

Ibrox hierarchy not expected to stop after Andreas Skov Olsen deal

Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl has emerged as a priority for Rangers, but the speculations have died down in recent weeks.

Rohl has acknowledged that the Gers aren’t going to stop with Skov Olsen’s deal, with players still being looked at for squad depth.

Rohl said, “We are still looking to fill some positions. Injuries are always an issue. We have strong players, but a long way to go in the season, and I work closely with Andrew Cavenagh and the club supports me.”

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are certainly winning fans over with their determination in January, and it’s good to see that their £20m net spend last summer hasn’t deterred them.
