David Moyes all but confirms another loan exit after possibly controversial Everton reveal
Everton’s decision to recall Harrison Armstrong earlier in the transfer window was one which excited.
The Toffees decided to send the youngster to Preston North End in the summer on a season-long loan, where he could develop his game in the Championship.
After performing consistently under Paul Heckingbottom, David Moyes decided to cut Armstrong’s loan short, as the midfielder has now already featured in several games for the Toffees this month.
The Englishman has been thrown in at the deep end but has proved himself a worthy option for Moyes, who has been hit with too many injuries.
Despite Armstrong’s impressive performances for Everton, Moyes still appears to have made up his mind on what he’s going to do with the teenager.

David Moyes confirms he wants to send Harrison Armstrong back out on loan
As highlighted by Sofascore, Armstrong hasn’t been standing out in displays, but neither is he underperforming.
Context is required with the 19-year-old, though, as he has featured in much more difficult fixtures than he was playing in the Championship, even helping the Toffees to victory on multiple occasions.
Heckingbottom has expressed his desire for Armstrong to return to Deepdale this month, and the Preston boss may very well get his wish.

Ahead of Everton‘s home clash against Leeds United on Monday, Moyes confirmed his interest in sending Armstrong back out on loan.
Moyes said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo on Monday: “I think the big thing for me is Harrison [might] get a chance to probably play another 20 games for a club that is probably going to be in the play-offs in the Championship.
“We’ve got to watch that we don’t make the wrong decision because we are saying ‘let’s have him around here’. I don’t really want him sitting on the bench for me when I think he could be playing.”
While it’s true that the Toffees need to watch Armstrong’s development carefully, the call may come under fire by supporters.
Everton are already light in numbers; the list is scary
For Everton to be in with a chance of finishing in the top 10 still is remarkable considering the injuries that Moyes has been dealt with.
Not to mention that Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye have been away with Senegal for weeks.
The Everton boss is now going to be without Jack Grealish for months, and although Armstrong isn’t an attacker, the Toffees are struggling in areas across the board.
Everton’s injured players:
- Jack Grealish
- Tim Iroegbunam
- Carlos Alcaraz
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
- Jarrad Branthwaite
The decision to send Armstrong back out will be controversial because, as things stand, the Toffees don’t seem interested in bringing any more players in to a injury stricken squad.
If the Friedkin Group were to get into action and start signing players, then Bluenoses would have no issue with sending Armstrong back to Preston or any other Championship club.
But right now, there’s a strong possibility that move could come back to bite the Blues.
