David Moyes shares Jack Grealish surgery news after Everton draw vs Leeds United
Everton fans have been eagerly waiting to hear updates about Jack Grealish’s injury, with the Englishman set for a spell on the sidelines.
Grealish sustained a foot injury recently, but the length of his absence has not yet been clear. Conflicting reports about Grealish’s Everton return timeline have been coming out.
However, with David Moyes recently confirming it is a stress fracture and Grealish sending a message to fans on social media, signs are that he is looking at a prolonged period.
Now, after the 1-1 draw against Leeds United, the Everton manager has provided an update on Grealish’s situation, including the chance of the Manchester City loanee needing surgery.
David Moyes issues Jack Grealish update after Everton vs Leeds draw
Grealish will face a decent chunk of time out for Everton after suffering a foot fracture, but whether or not the loanee needs surgery has still yet to be decided.
After drawing 1-1 with Leeds on Monday, Moyes shared that they are still waiting on the advice from medical professionals.
Moyes said, via Liverpool Echo: “We’re waiting on the surgeon saying what he thinks is the right choice. We’re getting closer to it, and hopefully we’ll be able to update you very shortly.”
Hope at Everton will certainly be that good news is delivered, and fears that the number 18 will miss the rest of the season can be alleviated.
Who can step up in Grealish’s absence?
Moyes does have some options at his disposal to work with during Grealish’s time out.
Against Leeds, Iliman Ndiaye was deployed on the left wing. Additionally, Harrison Armstrong or Tyler Dibling are also options out wide if needed.
Armstrong had looked set to return to Preston once Everton’s squad numbers began to look healthy again, but that might now be put on hold, while Dibling has failed to impress for the Toffees since making the summer switch from Southampton.

There is the chance that the Merseyside club dip into the market to replace Grealish, and they could push forward a move for Harry Wilson.
Although it is unclear if the club will use the market to address their issues, what is clear is that with the club not far behind in the race for Europe, those at L3 must not stand still.
Grealish has shown his importance, and if he is going to be out for most of the remainder of the season, Moyes needs to find an adequate solution.
Or else this season’s ambitions could quickly unravel.
