Elliot Anderson: Odds revealed on who Nottingham Forest star is most likely to sign for in summer

Elliot Anderson is expected to leave Nottingham Forest this summer as several Premier League clubs circle.

The midfielder has been incredibly impressive this summer, despite what has been a constant battle against relegation for his team.

Nottingham Forest took a step towards safety when they beat Tottenham before the international break, and they will likely need to stay in the Premier League if they are to have any chance of keeping Anderson.

The 23-year-old arrived at the City Ground in 2024 from Newcastle United in a deal worth around £35million – a fee that has looked better and better with each passing year.

Nottingham Forest transfer chiefs are now unlikely to even look at an offer below at least double that, with the midfielder under contract until 2029.

Manchester clubs lead Elliot Anderson race

Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively suggested to Football Insider this week that talks to sign Anderson are underway already, ahead of the summer.

The 23-year-old is among the Premier League’s most in-demand players and could even attract interest from elsewhere in Europe.

The money in the English top flight means his likeliest destination remains within the country, however, although it is not a guarantee that he leaves.

With Anderson having already caught Thomas Tuchel’s eye and made himself all but a guarantee to go to the World Cup this summer, and likely start for England, there is no rush for a move away.

Relegation would change that, however. It is not clear whether the Nottingham Forest star has a relegation clause in his contract, but he would be expected to push for a move away regardless.

The Manchester clubs are the favourites, according to one major bookmaker, who has both sides at 4/1 to sign Anderson. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are also expected to be in the race.

What Anderson has said about his future

It has been a dramatic rise to popularity for Anderson this season. The midfielder had already been performing for Nottingham Forest, but his recognition on the international stage has seen his list of admirers grow.

And deservedly so. It is not an overstatement to say that the 23-year-old would improve any team he joins this summer.

“We’ve obviously got the World Cup this summer, so all my eyes are on that and playing for England,” Anderson said when asked about his future.

“I’ve obviously got the badge on now, so that’s what I’m thinking about at the moment.”
