Super Eagles vs Poland and Portugal: Osimhen set to face Lewandowski & Ronaldo again

Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Poland and Portugal in two high-profile friendlies this June, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Soccernet.ng reports.

Victor Osimhen could line up against world-class forwards Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo, adding a major talking point ahead of the summer fixtures.

The matches come months after Nigeria missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Super Eagles were eliminated by DR Congo in the CAF playoff final in November 2025, losing 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Rabat, Morocco.

Has Osimhen faced Ronaldo & Lewandowski before?

Osimhen has already faced Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A when Napoli defeated Juventus 1‑0 on February 13, 2021. He also went up against Robert Lewandowski in the UEFA Champions League clash between Napoli and Barcelona on February 21, 2024, with both strikers scoring in a 1‑1 draw.

These past encounters mean Osimhen brings experience against two of football’s biggest stars, making the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal even more intriguing for Nigerian fans.

Super Eagles ready for a stern test

Fans have welcomed the announcement online, eager to see the Super Eagles take on elite European opposition. Coach Eric Chelle will use the matches to test tactics, integrate Europe-based stars, and build the squad ahead of the next Africa Cup of Nations cycle.
