“Enough of the excuses” – former Liverpool star calls for Arne Slot to be sacked
Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant says he’s had enough and Arne Slot should not be the Reds’ manager next season.
Posting on X, the pundit, who made 81 appearances for Liverpool between 2006 and 2009, made it clear he’s lost faith in Slot to turn this around.

“Enough of the excuses now, yes injuries don’t help but every team has injuries, but this is enough now, Slot can not be the manager next season, cos this style of football is not Liverpool,” Pennant posted.
“Don’t tell me he won the league last season, he’s got to go end of.”
Can Arne Slot bounce back or is it time for Liverpool to change manager?
It’s pretty remarkable to see such hostility towards Slot just a year after he guided Liverpool to the Premier League title, but the team has suffered a major dip in form this term.
The Merseyside giants are now down in fourth place, having barely challenged for the title, with a dire record of 11 league defeats and 48 goals conceded.
The mood inside Anfield today was pretty dire, with the home fans booing the result and seemingly singling out Slot as well when he made the surprise choice to sub off Rio Ngumoha.
Slot then explained that Ngumoha was injured, but he didn’t sound too pleased to be having to explain himself, with his relationship with the Kop clearly in tatters.
It would take something special to turn this around, so LFC surely have a big decision to make at the end of this season.
