Everton already learn fate for 20-y/o transfer target abroad - report

Everton have been revealed as holding an interest in striker Jeremy Arevalo.

David Moyes is expected to be active in the January transfer window, as he looks to capitalise on Everton‘s strong position in the Premier League at the halfway stage of the season.

Ivan Toney is a player Everton reportedly ‘would love’ to sign this month, as Moyes evidently wants to bolster his firepower in attack.

Loan signings could be Everton’s focus this winter, as they potentially look to save funds for a big summer of spending ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Everton handed first January transfer blow

Beto has been coming in for significant criticism for his lack of goals and form so far this season.

The 27-year-old striker has just one goal in 19 Premier League appearances to his name, and with Thierno Barry still adjusting to English football, the addition of a new centre-forward is sure to be on Everton’s transfer agenda this month.

However, one player they won’t be signing is Arevalo, who has completed a £6million (€7m) move from Racing Santander to VfB Stuttgart.

As per Saturday’s print edition of German newspaper Bild, Stuttgart beat the likes of Strasbourg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Lazio, Roma and Everton.

It’s stated that whilst other clubs wanted to sign the 20-year-old Ecuador international on a loan deal, Stuttgart’s desire to sign him permanently is seemingly what won the Bundesliga outfit his signature.

This is the player Everton should target in January window

Given the aforementioned struggles of Beto coupled with the fact that Barry is the only other natural centre-forward in the squad, Moyes should be targeting an established and proven striker to spearhead his attack.

Once they’ve found their man who fits that bill and who is capable of leading the line well for years to come, then Everton can turn their attention to taking swings on young players.

However, this shouldn’t be their priority until they’re sure they’ve got a goalscorer in house, and with what we’ve seen from both Beto and Barry’s respective Everton careers so far, that may not yet be the case.
