Everton can sign 15g/a Championship ace for £25m as release clause emerges - report

Leo Scienza is on Everton‘s summer wishlist, and they now know how much it will take to sign him.

The Southampton ace has 15 goals and assists in the Championship, with seven goals and eight assists in 32 matches.

That has caught the attention of David Moyes‘ side and several other Premier League teams, with a transfer potentially on the cards in the summer.

Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte claimed on 13 April that the 27-year-old has a £25million release clause in his contract at St Mary’s.

Everton will not have it easy in their attempts to sign Scienza, as they face competition from four top-flight rivals, but at least they know how much they need to stump up.

Who else wants to sign Everton target Scienza?

Everton are not alone in eyeing Scienza, and they may struggle to convince him that they are the best option unless they qualify for Europe.

Aston Villa, Tottenham, Leeds United and Fulham are also interested in adding the winger to their squad, so it may come down to the wages on offer.

The report states that he is understood to be on £100,000-per-month with the Saints, which works out at £25,000-per-week.

That does not seem like too much for the Blues, although he would likely want an increase if he moves to the top tier.

Why Everton should not have Dibling worry with Scienza

Evertonians and the Friedkin Group may have concerns about signing another Saints player, especially after Tyler Dibling’s struggles this season.

However, Scienza should not be another Dibling, as he is much more experienced, at 27 years old, rather than being just 20, like the current Toffees man.

The Brazilian proved his quality in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Arsenal, constantly proving a handful for the Gunners defence.

That suggested that he would not be too bothered by the step up in quality, and if the Toffees were to take a gamble and trigger the release clause, they would not have to worry about his adaptation.

Only time will tell whether Moyes’ side can beat their rivals to his signature, but at least they know what it would take, if the report from his homeland is accurate.
