Everton could get summer cash boost as PL giants make former star 'top target' - report
Manchester United have reportedly made former Everton star Anthony Gordon their “top target” this summer.
According to TEAMtalk on Wednesday, the Red Devils could be willing to pay up to £80million for the former Toffees star.
Newcastle values the Englishman at around £95m, and given Man United’s recent spending history, they may well give in to the Magpies’ steep valuation.
The good news for Everton and the Friedkin Group, though, is that there is said to be a sell-on clause inserted in Gordon‘s contract from when he made the switch from Goodison Park to St. James’ Park in 2023.
It’s not known what percentage this is, but the Blues would certainly welcome any cut of a potential £95m sale this summer.

What Michael Carrick has said amid Anthony Gordon interest
David Moyes will be keen to bolster his squad further in the summer after a fairly quiet January window, and Gordon’s possible sale will only help his case for additions.
Like the Toffees, Man United are also planning for their future transfers, regardless of whether current interim boss Michael Carrick stays at the club or not.
The United head coach is still in touch with internal figures at the club and will be giving his advice on which areas to improve upon.
As per Fabrizio Romano on X, Carrick has confirmed that the Red Devils will “definitely” consider the signing of a left-winger this summer, which conveniently comes after the links to Gordon.
All signs are pointing to the 25-year-old’s exit this summer, which will see Everton finally rake in more money for their former star’s continued performances.

This is what Everton could do with Gordon cash boost
Ironically, Everton will most likely be in the market for a permanent left wing arrival in the summer, with Jack Grealish’ situation ongoing.
The 30-year-old could miss the rest of the season through injury, but there is a desire to keep him on Merseyside beyond this campaign.

Grealish’s wages are a stumbling block, though money from Gordon’s sale could persuade the Friedkin Group to push a deal through.
If not Grealish, the Blues could also look to trigger the buy clause in Tyrique George’s loan deal; however, that will likely depend on the youngster’s performances in the next few months.
