Everton fan group The 1878s furious with what fellow supporters did vs Leeds: 'Extremely disappointed'
Everton were held to a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.
James Justin opened the scoring for the visitors, who dominated proceedings in the first half.
However, Everton grew into the game, and Thierno Barry’s 76th-minute equaliser meant both teams had to settle for a point.
David Moyes has done a remarkable job in turning the Toffees into a side that is competing for European football.
However, the Merseysiders blew the chance to move into seventh place by failing to win, and after the game, fan group The 1878s had a message for supporters at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton fan group The 1878s send long message to fellow supporters
The 1878s released a statement condemning the Everton fans who took home the flags and poles that were on display before the start of the game against Leeds.
They said: “We are extremely disappointed that some fans took our flags home last night, removing them from the large wooden pole they are on and taking them with them.
“These were taken grown men by the way, not kids.”
They then explain how some of the flags cost up to £65 and that fans have donated their own money to fund them.
These supporters spend time away from their full-time jobs to organise this for matchdays, and it’s not fair on them that some people take flags and poles home when they don’t belong to them.
They finally urge any fans who have taken them home to return them for the match against Man United on 23 February.

How have Everton fared at the Hill Dickinson Stadium?
There were worries that the Toffees would struggle at their new ground after making the move from Goodison Park at the start of the campaign.
Everton beat Brighton 2-0 in their first home match of the season, and they initially thrived in the new environment.
However, Moyes’ side are now winless in their last four matches in L4.
Stat Everton Games played 12 Wins 4 Draws 4 Losses 4
Everton suffered a damaging 4-2 loss against Brentford and were held to a 1-1 draw with 20th-placed Wolves at the start of January.
After failing to pick up three points on Monday, it’s safe to say that their form has completely tailed off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That’s why the 1878s are doing their best to improve the atmosphere, and it’s imperative that no supporters take home any of the pre-match displays.
