Everton are now closely investigating a deal for Fenerbahce forward Youssef En-Nesyri.

En-Nesyri emerged as a target for Everton earlier in the window as David Moyes looked to add a new forward option to his side.

The Morocco international is just back from AFCON, but that hasn’t stopped En-Nesyri from setting out his transfer demands this winter.

There is every chance that Beto could be replaced by En-Nesyri at Everton, should a move go through for the 28-year-old.

The chances of that deal going through may have taken a setback at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the Toffees looking more closely at the finances involved in a deal for En-Nesyri.

Everton investigating finances surrounding Youssef En-Nesyri deal

Everton previously submitted a bid for En-Nesyri as the ex-Sevilla man looked destined for a Merseyside switch in January.

Things haven’t truly progressed since this offer was tabled, with it unclear whether the Moroccan is any closer to joining the Blues.

The Toffees have been linked to other strikers away from the Fenerbahce man, with Romelu Lukaku and Wilson Isidor both emerging as targets.

That makes sense after the i Paper reported that Everton investigated the finances surrounding the transfer of En-Nesyri.

The outlet suggested on Wednesday that the 28-year-old is now unlikely to move to L4 after being offered to Moyes’ side this winter.

It seems that loan deals are something that the Toffees are now targeting, with enquiries being made over a move for a striker despite the tricky nature of the January window.

Which striker could Everton sign instead of En-Nesyri?

It looks as if Thierno Barry is improving and could be the main man across the second half of the season, but reinforcements would still be useful.

Beto has been largely disappointing this campaign, and if he is to be let go the need for a new number nine will only increase.

En-Nesyri could have been useful, but for a big fee and sizable wages, may have cost more than his potential impact on Merseyside.

Callum Wilson could prove to be a useful option for that reason, but it seems unlikely now that he will leave West Ham this winter.

Isidor and Lukaku have both been looked at and pose different ends of the Premier League experience spectrum and likely have contrasting wage demands.

There are plenty of options there for Moyes to choose from, but finances look destined to have a telling impact on the final decision.
