Everton make final exit decision on player who started vs Brighton - Paul Joyce
Harrison Armstrong was called back from his Preston loan with Everton short of attacking options back at the start of January.
The plan for the young talent was to send him back out on loan once David Moyes’ squad’s numbers began to increase.
Even as recently as Everton’s 1-1 draw against Brighton, Moyes was unsure about where Armstrong would play the rest of his football this season.
Paul Heckingbottom had wanted Armstrong to return as Preston seek a chance for promotion through the Championship play-offs.
Now, it looks as if a final decision has been made by Everton.
Harrison Armstrong’s Everton future decided
Armstrong, no doubt, has a future at Hill Dickinson Stadium beyond this season no matter what decision was made, but it looks like he will have a chance to prove his worth sooner rather than later.
Over the last month, the 19-year-old has essentially been auditioning for his role in this Everton setup going forward, but it was not expected for that role to be granted this season.
However, according to Paul Joyce via X on Sunday, Everton have finally made a decision on the midfielder, with Moyes having the final say. Armstrong is set to stay at Everton.
The information by The Times journalist states that the Everton manager has been ‘impressed’ with Armstrong and that he will stay within his plans for the remainder of the campaign.
“Harrison Armstrong is to remain at Everton for the rest of the season,” Joyce posted. “David Moyes had considered sending the 19-year-old back to Preston North End on loan but has been impressed with the midfielder who started the draw with Brighton.
“Everton plan to give Armstrong opportunities and believe he will help push for Europe.“
As already seen, Armstrong will be given plenty of opportunities in the Everton shirt. The player has started the last five games for the Merseyside club.
Could anyone else leave Everton before the deadline?
Other than Armstrong, it had looked like Beto was set to leave the Toffees before the winter transfer window closed.
However, there has been a U-turn on Beto’s future at Everton.
The Guinea-Bissau international, like Armstrong, will remain on Merseyside for the rest of the campaign.

Dwight McNeil has been linked with a move away all winter, and as the clock ticks down, there could be movement on his future as well.
Additionally, Adam Aznou could leave Everton, with the defender struggling to pick up minutes for the Premier League club.
