Everton vs Brentford postponement latest with Met Office weather warning in place

Everton’s meeting with Brentford on Sunday afternoon could face weather disruption.

David Moyes’ side beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 on 30 December, with Everton now welcoming Brentford to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for their first game of 2026 as they go in the search of back-to-back wins.

Everton were underdogs to beat Forest, but goals from James Garner and Thierno Barry ensuring the Toffees kept pace in the race for European football.

As such, Everton are expected to be active in the January window, as they attempt to really go for it in the second half of the season in what has the potential to be one of their best Premier League campaigns in many years.

Yellow snow and ice warning issued for Everton vs Brentford

Everton are hoping to start the New Year with a bang on Sunday afternoon, but they may have another battle on their hands aside from the challenge of taking on Brentford.

According to the Met Office, as of 3 January, there is a yellow warning for snow and ice in place in the Merseyside area from 3pm on Sunday, that runs until 12pm on Monday 5 January.

Some roads and railways likely to be affected as a result, with extended journey times by road, bus and train services, whilst warnings have been sent regarding ice on both roads and paths, and so fans will need to exercise caution when travelling to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, at this stage, there doesn’t appear to be any danger that the match will be called off. Supporters are advised to regularly check for any further updates.

Everton’s recent head-to-head record vs Brentford

Both clubs are separated by just one point in the league ahead of Sunday’s clash, and with the weather potentially set to play a part too, it could be a very equal game between Everton and Brentford.

Recent history does favour the home side though, with the Toffees not having tasted defeated to the Bees in any of their last six meetings, dating back to May 2022.

Everton have won three and drawn three during that time period, with the last two games both ending in stalemates.
