Everything we know about Aasgaard’s Rangers contract situation as Rohl snub continues
Thelo Aasgaard has seriously struggled for regular gametime since joining Rangers in the summer.
The Norway international completed an Ibrox switch from Luton Town as he looked to add a creative edge to the midfield in G51.
That hasn’t quite transpired with the 23-year-old largely playing second fiddle to other options in the middle of the park in Govan.
It doesn’t appear that Danny Rohl is entirely impressed by what he’s seen from the former Wigan man since coming in as head coach.
That could see Aasgaard face an uncertain future at Rangers as Ibrox News rounds up what we know about his current contract.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
What is Thelo Aasgaard’s contract situation at Rangers?
There have been some flashes of brilliance from the attack-minded midfielder since making his move from Kenilworth Road.
His nine-goal involvement should represent a positive campaign, but that certainly hasn’t been the case in recent weeks.
Stat (Scottish Premiership 25/26) Thelo Aasgaard Appearances 25 Starts 15 Minutes played 1291 Goals 4 Assists 2
Aasgaard has made just one appearance in March, with just two starts coming since the start of February for the Light Blues.
That is pretty disappointing for a £3.5million signing that could eventually cost the Gers a fee of around £4m.
The Norwegian secured a four-year contract as part of his move from Luton in a deal that could keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2029.
Aasgaard is struggling for minutes at Rangers, but is still on a reported weekly wage of £12,000 and yearly salary of over £600,000, which feels excessive.
Could Aasgaard force a Rangers exit?
His recent snub from the Norway national team could prove to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for the midfielder at Ibrox.
The World Cup is on the horizon, and right now, his lack of gametime is only going to damage his chances of securing a spot on the plane.
If he doesn’t, there may be an annoyance there from Aasgaard that make an exit beneficial for all parties in the summer.
Rangers would certainly hold all the cards if a transfer was on the cards due to the 23-year-old having three years remaining on his deal.
There is still hope that Rohl can get the best out of the midfielder moving forward after completing a move less than 12 months ago.
