Ex-CEO: Leeds could sign Strand Larsen for '£20m' below asking price

Leeds could sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in the January transfer window for “£20million” below his asking price.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Leeds could be an “option” for Strand Larsen.

Strand Larsen looks set to leave Wolves either in the January or summer transfer window, with the Old Gold likely to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Nottingham Forest have been strong contenders to sign Strand Larsen, with Everton also previously showing interest in the striker.

Wolves ‘have to negotiate’ over Jorgen Strand Larsen price

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there will not be an “auction” for Strand Larsen.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the 25-year-old could leave Wolves for as low as £20million.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Wolves are going to have to negotiate. I don’t think there is an auction for him. While there’s been interest, I don’t see anybody really stepping up for him.

“I still have a big question mark over him. I think £40m is just too high a price. I think he’s going to go somewhere like about 20 to 25. I think Wolves would actually be best served getting some sort of player deals together, trying to rebuild some of the players perhaps in their older years that are going to be in the Championship.

“And they’ve got to start thinking about that sort of situation in reality, because we all know it’s a different squad that’s required in the Championship to come bouncing back up, and I think that Strand Larsen, that’s possibly one way to look at it because I don’t think they’re going to maximise the value for him.

“Leeds could be an option. We’ll talk about some of Leeds’ other strikers just now, but I think yes, I think that’s what Wolves should be looking at, is players I think to try and rebuild more than anything else.”

Leeds could move for forward duo

Leeds could turn their attention to other targets in pursuit of a new striker if they do not push for a deal to sign Strand Larsen.

Derby County striker Patrick Agyemang is a target for Leeds and their Premier League rivals Crystal Palace following an impressive first season in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Leeds are favourites to sign Troy Parrott, who is wanted by a number of Premier League sides thanks to his fine form at club and international level.
