Ex-Etihad adviser: Man City talks for new signing ongoing as ‘agreement in principle’ edges closer
Manchester City are expected to already be in talks with Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson about a move to the Etihad Stadium.
That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider one of the interested parties could reach an “agreement in principle” with the England international next month.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been heavily linked with a move to sign Anderson in recent months following his performances this season.
The 23-year-old has impressed for Forest despite their relegation concerns, with Vitor Pereira’s side currently sitting 16th in the Premier League table.
Man City have spent heavily over the past three transfer windows as Guardiola continues to revamp his squad.

How long has Elliot Anderson been in transfer talks?
It has been suggested Man City could pay around £80million for Anderson if they decide to push ahead with the deal this summer.
However, Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United have also been linked with the midfielder.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed whether Man City could look to sign Anderson before the World Cup gets underway on 11 June.
“The teams that are interested in Elliot Anderson are probably talking to him already and have been probably since Christmas,” said Borson.
“Now, whether they’ll be able to do a deal in that window before the World Cup, I don’t know.
“But in terms of the kind of agreement in principle with the player, I would think that will be done probably next month by whoever’s going to get him, be it City or somebody else.”
Why Anderson deal isn’t ‘foregone conclusion’
Borson insisted Anderson’s fee will depend on whether Forest remain in the Premier League this season.
“I assume they’ll have a good idea of what Forest will want for him,” said Borson.
“Of course, Forest’s division next season will play into that one way or the other. If they’re a Premier League club, they’ll be able to hold out for a higher fee, and if they’re relegated, it won’t be so easy.
“But these things are not foregone conclusions. We saw last season with Gibbs-White that just because a player has an in-principle agreement with another club does not mean that they will end up going there, so we have to wait and see.
“But my expectation would be that Elliot Anderson will move and is talking to people right now, contrary to what people say in the media.”
