Ex-FIFA official: Rangers to be hit with UEFA fine after unseen incident vs Ludogorets

Rangers are set to land themselves in a spot of bother with UEFA.

Rangers secured a 1-0 win over Ludogorets on Thursday at Ibrox, with Mohamed Diomande on the score sheet for only the second time this season.

It wasn’t the five-star performance that many expected, given the fact that many of these players were ultimately playing for their spot in the team, but it was yet another win nonetheless.

However, despite the game ultimately being a dead rubber encounter, Rangers may find themselves hit with a fine after an easily avoidable incident.

Rangers failed to return to pitch on time for second half

Rangers have often been accused of failing to turn up at all in games this season, though that has completely changed under the stewardship of Rohl, who has the Gers in the title race.

However, what they failed to do on Thursday was turn up on time for the second half of their Europa League clash with Ludogorets.

It seems like a bit of a nothing incident, but it has always been something frowned upon by UEFA observers, with Keith Hackett explaining how they will likely be hit with yet another fine.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, he said: “The referee will report the fact that Rangers delayed the restart of the second half and that will lead to the matter being investigated by the UEFA Disciplinary panel.

“A fine will be imposed.”

Given the fact that the game had little to no importance, Rangers could certainly have done without the imminent punishment.

What else did we learn from Rangers win vs Ludogorets?

First and foremost, Andreas Skov Olsen has an almost free run into the starting 11 at Ibrox, with both Djeidi Gassama and Mikey Moore failing to impress.

The former in particular struggled to showcase any final product, as demonstrated via his Sofascore stats, while the latter looked undeniably raw at times.

Findlay Curtis, who looks set for a move away from Rangers, was introduced in the second half, and he showcased why that deicison may prove to be a mistake.

Despite only playing the last 20 minutes, he looked dangerous in attack, had an excellent effort tipped over the bar, and contributed with plenty of defensive work.

There were a lot of good things on show from the Light Blues on Thursday, but also a handful of things that will no doubt be on the mind of Rohl ahead of this weekend’s clash with Dundee FC.
