Ex-PL chief scout: Leeds to find buyer for Jack Harrison as they get ready to accept summer offer

Jack Harrison will be allowed to leave Leeds United permanently this summer as he is unlikely to remain at Fiorentina following his loan spell.

The 29-year-old is not part of Daniel Farke’s long-term plans are they hope to cash in on him and use the money to reinvest in their squad.

Since making the temporary switch to Fiorentina in January, he has made 14 appearances and picked up two assists, but is not considered a regular starter.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the Italian outfit are unlikely to sign Harrison, forcing Leeds to look for another buyer.

Should they remain in the Premier League next season, Farke is keen to strengthen their squad, and Leeds could let fringe players leave in an attempt to raise funds.

Leeds United accelerate plans to sell Jack Harrison

Football Insider first revealed in October that Leeds were keen to cash in on Harrison and ultimately they were pleased to get him off the books when he left on loan.

However, given he is unlikely to remain in Italy beyond the end of his loan spell, he will return to Elland Road once again at the end of the season.

Leeds have been planning to cash in on Harrison for a while now, having hoped to move him on last summer, and there is a feeling the next window will be his last at Leeds.

“Leeds are looking to cash in on Jack Harrison,” Brown told Football Insider.

“There’s been a definite desire to do that deal over the last couple of years and they’ve struggled to find any permanent buyers for him.

“He went to Everton and was in and out of the team there, he promised a bit in some games and in other games he never managed to have a kick.

“Now he’s gone to Fiorentina and he’s not been able to establish himself there, I don’t expect they’ll be looking to sign him permanently so he’ll go back to Leeds.

“But he’s not part of the plans there, so if they can find a buyer for him at the right price, they’ll want to let him go and they can use that money elsewhere.”

Could Leeds make a move to replace Harrison?

Outgoing deals are not the only focus at Elland Road ahead of the summer, as they will also look to improve their options after clearing space.

Football Insider revealed ahead of the January transfer window that Leeds would accelerate plans to sign a striker as they prepared to let Harrison move on.

After they were unable to lure new attackers to Elland Road, including missing out on the likes of Jorgen Strand Larsen, the priority has shifted towards the summer.

Cashing in on a number of fringe players would give them greater spending power to sign forwards as Farke aims to improve a key area of his team.

A number of forwards are on Leeds’ radar to partner Dominic Calvert-Lewin and provide cover for Lukas Nmecha ahead of the transfer window opening.
