Ex-PL ref reacts to 'disgraceful' Tottenham vs Villa scenes, FA may review one player
Tottenham and Aston Villa players were involved in a brawl after the FA Cup third-round clash ended 2-1 on Wednesday.
Unai Emery’s team were victorious at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 10 January, with the visitors taking a two-goal lead in the opening 45 minutes.
Emi Buendia opened the scoring before Morgan Rogers found the back of the net just before half-time, and Wilson Odobert’s 54th-minute strike ended up being a consolation for the North London outfit.
Villa fans mocked Thomas Frank during the game, and tempers flared after the final whistle as Ollie Watkins’ celebrations irked Joao Palhinha.
Tottenham to brace for FA punishment as possibly Pedro Porro under scanner
Palhinha’s confrontation with Watkins apparently didn’t go down well with Rogers at full-time, leading to both players pulling and tugging at each other.
Subsequently, the likes of Micky van de Ven and others got involved as Frank looked on from the sidelines at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There was also an incident with Pedro Porro earlier in the game, with the right-back seemingly abusing the officials from the bench after Palhinha’s tackle on Watkins.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, former Premier League referee Keith Hackett said, “Once again, at the end of the game, we witnessed another disgraceful confrontation between the two teams. The FA will certainly charge both clubs with failing to control the players. Any previous record of events of this nature will be taken into account.”
The ex-FIFA official added, “The FA may also review the poor reaction from Porro, too, and determine if any action should be taken. I don’t expect the player to be suspended.”
Frank may face the sack after losing to Villa, and supporters in N17 will have to wait and see what punishment the FA have in store.

Spurs fans to hold their breath after what’s seen vs Aston Villa
Dominic Solanke’s injury frustrations have been well-documented at Tottenham, with the striker finally returning to action against Villa.
The England international came on in the 83rd minute to help Spurs turn things around, but the hosts’ fightback was too little, too late.
While Frank saw the return of one of his centre-forwards to action, the Danish manager now has to worry about Richarlison, who had to be replaced at around the half-hour mark due to an apparent hamstring injury.
Tottenham fans will hold their breath over the Brazilian star’s fitness, as he’s been the most consistent number nine for them this season.
