Ex-West Ham Scout: 'Significant' sale to fund new permanent signing
Axel Disasi has become a top target for West Ham United as they aim to secure his signing on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old has thrived under Nuno Espirito Santo since joining on loan from Chelsea in February, and has kickstarted their push for Premier League survival.
Should the Hammers secure their status as a top-flight team next season, they are expected to make a move for the centre-back, although financial concerns could be a problem.
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that they may not be able to afford Disasi if Chelsea stick to their guns in demanding a significant fee.
As a result, the Hammers could be forced to sell players to raise funds which will be put towards signing Disasi in what could be a turbulent window for West Ham.

Could West Ham agree a permanent deal for Axel Disasi?
Brown told Football Insider on 14 April that West Ham are accelerating plans to sign Disasi as a result of his importance to the team since joining on loan.
Nuno is a big fan of the centre-back and has been delighted with his performances in the second half of the season, which have inspired the Hammers’ form.

Should they prove successful in their bid to stay up, with just two points separating them from the bottom three as things stand, there is a feeling a deal could be done.
“It’s no secret West Ham want to sign Disasi permanently,” Brown told Football Insider.
“The way he’s performed and the way their results have turned around since he joined, the impact has been clear and they want him to stick around.
“The only issue will be whether they can afford it with the fee Chelsea are going to want.
“Chelsea don’t sell players on the cheap, even fringe players, so it might be difficult for West Ham because they’re having their own financial issues.
“But if they can go and sell a player, Mavropanos for example, for a significant fee then they can put that money towards getting a deal done.
“It strikes me that that’s the only way they’ll be able to agree a deal, if they can sell players first, because otherwise the price tag could be too high.”
Which players could West Ham sell to fund Disasi move?
Ahead of the summer transfer window, there are growing concerns that the Hammers will be forced to sell players as a result of ongoing financial difficulties.
The Hammers have found themselves in a nightmare situation financially after reporting £104million losses and will need to cash in on star players to balance the books.

A number of first-team stars are being linked with moves away from the London Stadium as a result, as they will be unable to spend unless they sell.
Brown told Football Insider on 21 April that Konstantinos Mavropanos wants to leave West Ham, with the club now prepared to accept offers for him.
It will take a “huge” offer to lure him away given their ongoing issues and need for a replacement, but his exit could facilitate the permanent arrival of his partner Disasi.
