Expert: Newcastle could follow in West Ham's footsteps after Eddie Howe sack claim
Newcastle United have been warned against sacking Eddie Howe despite suggestions his position at St James’ Park will be under consideration this summer.
The Magpies are currently 12th in the Premier League table and four points shy of any European qualification spot despite their lofty ambitions for the season.
As a result, questions have been asked of the manager, while there are suggestions the board are going to review his position come the end of the season.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle must “be careful what they wish for” given the stability Howe brings.
This is the first dip in years for the Magpies, who finished fifth last time out, and suggestions Newcastle could look for a new manager have come as a surprise.

Could Newcastle sack Eddie Howe in the summer?
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 5 April that Newcastle are considering Howe’s future as he slammed them for their “knee-jerk” decision-making.
Sections of the fanbase have been left frustrated by recent results including the 2-1 defeat against Sunderland which ramped up the pressure on Howe’s position.

Should a high-profile option become available in what is set to be a busy summer full of managerial changes, Newcastle have been urged to take their time over the call.
“Newcastle have to be careful what they wish for,” Brown told Football Insider.
“We’ve spoken a few times about Eddie Howe because there have been doubts about him, fans haven’t been happy and it’s been a difficult season for them.
“But there are reasons for that which go well beyond the manager and his decisions.
“Even if somebody comes up who they think could be a good option, you have to weigh it up against everything Howe has done since he’s come in.
“Look at what’s happened to West Ham after they let David Moyes go, they thought they could go and get somebody better and play better football.
“Then, they lost some important players, the new managers didn’t do as well as they hoped, and now they’re at risk of getting relegated.
“Newcastle could lose some key players this summer, but with Eddie Howe they’ve got somebody stable who you know is going to get the best out of what he’s got.
“To throw that away and go and get a new manager, who you don’t know whether they’re going to be a success, is a big gamble and one they should avoid.”
Newcastle told to learn from West Ham and David Moyes
Ahead of what could be a turbulent summer for Newcastle, they have been urged to avoid the mistakes of fellow Premier League clubs who made changes too soon.
Brown previously warned Football Insider that Newcastle could lose multiple star players this summer, with the futures of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes uncertain.

Losing their manager on top of a number of key players could spell disaster for the Magpies as they would be ditching Howe’s stability and know-how.
Similar happened when West Ham opted to move on from Moyes, as Brown mentioned, and the Hammers have since plummeted down the Premier League table.
Having won a European trophy just three years ago, they are currently sitting in the relegation zone, and Newcastle have been told they could suffer the same fate.
