Expert: This is what sources have told me about Rangers signing Kieron Bowie

Rangers could be beaten by Glasgow rivals Celtic if they decide to pursue Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie.

That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who has revealed who leads the race to sign the 23-year-old.

Rangers and Celtic have both registered interest in Bowie, who has scored eight goals in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Hibs are braced for offers for Bowie, who have valued the Scotland international at £6.5million amid interest from the Glasgow duo and English clubs.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Rangers are currently not in a position to sign Bowie.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has been told that Celtic are the front-runners to sign the striker.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, my source in Scotland who I spoke to early this morning was saying that the chances are he’s more likely to go to the other side of the Old Firm, to the green and white.

“So I don’t think that will be happening for Rangers as per my source at the moment. So I don’t see that one happening yet from Hibs.”
