Football fans can kick off 2026 with Sky Sports channels now available free of charge for millions
Sky Sports’ football coverage has just become a lot more accessible as we head into 2026.
The TV company hold the lion’s share of the rights to cover both the Premier League and the EFL for the 2025-26 campaign and beyond, and that has often left fans without a subscription in the cold when it comes to watching games at home.
Sky Sports are generally unpopular with match-going fans across the country, as they are often responsible for the alteration of kick-off times across the professional pyramid.
However, that reputation could now be about to change somewhat, after an exciting update that has just become available ahead of 2026.

LG uprgade to provide free Sky Sports access
The controversy surrounding Sky Sports has often stemmed from the pricing of their subscriptions in recent years.
TV packages that include access to Sky Sports channels currently cost £35 a month for non-existing customers, while those with a 24-month contract with the company can add the sports channels as an extra for a monthly fee of £20.
However, that has now changed somewhat for people who have LG TVs.
The Korean technology provider have included some Sky Sports channels as part of their latest upgrade to their LG Channels platform, according to The Mirror.
Customers will now be able to watch shows from Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Classics, as well as the Sky Sports Vault, free of charge, in what serves as a major boost for fans of the Premier League and beyond.

The update has already begun to be rolled out across LG products, and also includes the FIFA+ Women’s channel, for fans of women’s football.
LG estimate that they shipped out over 3.18million of their OLED TV products in 2024, so the upgrade will be available to millions in the New Year.
What content is on Sky Sports Vault?
Sky is showing more Premier League games than ever before in 2025-26, but the content available on its Vault channel does not include live games.
Instead, it allows fans to relive some of their favourite encounters from previous years, both in the Premier League and further down the Football League pyramid.
It also provides access to content of a similar nature for the likes of darts and boxing, meaning LG customers have access to an unprecedented amount of sport for a free service.
The possibility of watching live Sky games free of charge from your own home still seems like a long way off, but LG have certainly broken new ground with their upgrade.
