Hearts medical scheduled as midfielder picks Tynecastle over MLS
Hearts are set to sign Marc Leonard from Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Birmingham this season as they hunt for promotion, but has struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI.
As a result, the Jambos are set to bring in the Blues star, returning him to Tynecastle for the first time since 2018, when he was previously a youth player before he moved to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Hearts have been in need of a new defensive midfielder after Cammy Devlin picked up an injury, ruling him out for the foreseeable future.
Marc Leonard set for Hearts medical on Friday
Derek McInnes is not wasting any time in trying to get Leonard through the door as quickly as possible.
According to Anthony Joseph via X on 23 January, the midfielder is set to go for a medical at Hearts on Friday ahead of the proposed move.
With the Jambos set to take on Celtic on Sunday at Tynecastle, they will be hoping to get the deal over the line as soon as possible to improve Hearts’ title ambitions.
Joseph also confirms that the Blues star has picked the Jam Tarts over a number of clubs in England, Europe and the MLS.

Now, it remains to be seen if the deal will be done in time for Leonard to make his Hearts debut against Celtic on Sunday.
How good is Leonard?
According to Fotmob on 23 January, Leonard has some excellent stats for Birmingham City this season.
Per 90 minutes, he is averaging, 4.20 tackles, 6.18 duels won, 6.57 recoveries and a passing accuracy of 84.9 per cent.

Therefore, McInnes will be hoping that he can hit the ground running immediately, as Hearts look to win the Scottish Premiership title for the first time since 1960.
Leonard’s form while Devlin is injured will likely be key to this, especially with some crucial games on the horizon.
Hopefully, the midfielder is as good as his stats suggest, and Hearts get the deal over the line quickly enough for the Birmingham City star to make his debut against Celtic on Sunday.
