Hugh Keevins reacts to Rangers pitch-side stunt that highlights Celtic transfer trauma
Rangers are flexing their muscles in the winter transfer window, while Celtic continue their struggles with recruitment under Martin O’Neill.
Danny Rohl could potentially get more deals over the line at Ibrox after signing Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens and Andreas Skov Olsen.
As for the Parkhead side, they’ve signed right-back Julian Araujo on loan from Bournemouth and recently got a deal over the line for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tomas Cvancara, who they can sign permanently in the summer.
Rohl is confident about competing for the William Hill Premiership title, and with key Hearts players like Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin picking up long-term injuries, the Light Blues have every reason to be optimistic.

Rangers surely embarrass Celtic with transfer theatrics
Skov Olsen was presented ahead of kick-off against Annan Athletic, with the winger accompanied by Chukwuani and Rommens on the pitch in front of supporters.
Hugh Keevins believes the on-field announcement at Ibrox was a way for the Gers to flex their financial prospects under the new ownership while things on the other side of Glasgow deteriorate.
The mood in Govan has drastically changed, but the same can’t be said about Celtic, who’ve seen Brendan Rodgers resign and Wilfried Nancy get sacked in recent months.
Writing in the Daily Record on 24 January, Keevins said, “It was, to my way of thinking, a stage-managed, and perfectly legitimate, stunt to draw attention to the fact Rangers are now in a financial position to stretch their marketplace muscles.”
The veteran journalist added, “And, by implication, a piece of pitch-side theatre to highlight the fact that the team across the road on the other side of the city were in their usual state of transfer-window trauma.”
The Glaswegian outfit now seem to be focusing on getting players out the door, with Kieran Dowell completing a move to Hull City, and others potentially preparing to leave.
Andreas Skov Olsen debut ready as Danny Rohl to take title initiative
Skov Olsen could be ready for his debut against Dundee on 25 January as the Gers look to continue their four-game winning run in the league.
A win at Ibrox against the Dark Blues could see Rangers pip Celtic in the table if results elsewhere go their way.

Hearts welcome O’Neill’s team to Tynecastle Park while the Light Blues face Dundee, and a draw in Edinburgh will certainly be the best-case scenario for the Govan side.
The two Old Firm rivals are level on points right now, with Hearts at the top of the table with a six-point cushion, but that could change in a matter of hours.
