'I have no idea how...' - Sky Sports pundit can't believe what's happened in Brighton vs Everton

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Kaoru Mitoma had an opportunity to take the lead against Everton in the first half on Saturday.

David Moyes’ team travel to the Amex Stadium on 31 January, with Adam Aznou not part of the squad amid links with a departure from the Toffees.

Harrison Armstrong’s return to Preston North End also looks unlikely, with the youngster starting on the right-wing and Iliman Ndiaye on the left in Jack Grealish’s absence.

In the 18th minute, Danny Welbeck played the Japan international in behind, with his shot just wide of the target.

Kaoru Mitoma should’ve scored in Brighton vs Everton

Former England international Sue Smith couldn’t believe Mitoma wasn’t able to find the back of the net for Brighton in the opening 20 minutes.

The Toffees have started with four centre-backs, and it’s clear that Moyes is playing not to lose at the Amex Stadium.

With the Blues unable to create many opportunities, the Seagulls will surely not want to regret any missed opportunities at home against the Merseyside outfit, with the score 0-0 at the break.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday on 31 January, Smith said, “I have no idea how he doesn’t score that, it’s such good play! He has to score there.”

A deal for Tyrique Geoge is being worked on at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in Merseyside.

Moyes will surely be hoping for a few quality additions between now and the end of the 2 February deadline as he looks to secure a European finish in the Premier League.

David Moyes to make immediate half-time change at Amex Stadium

Jake O’Brien’s frailties have been evident for Moyes at right-back, with the defender unable to make an impact in the final third of the pitch when playing out of position.

Everton have been unable to rely on any of their other options on the right side of the defence, with Seamus Coleman struggling with consistent fitness issues and Nathan Patterson also underwhelming.

However, with Armstrong almost isolated on the right-wing, the Scottish full-back may be able to form a better partnership up front with the youngster.

O’Brien has tried to do his best by stretching Brighton’s defence, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Patterson get on after the break.
