Ibrox View: 49ers can't make same mistake twice as Euro club plot move for criticised Rangers star

Rangers may have another decision to make on Youssef Chermiti, with Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven interested ahead of a possible summer swoop.

The Dutch side has scouted Chermiti for months, and club internals are pondering over a move in the summer transfer window.

He’s not the only number nine PSV are interested in, with former Motherwell star Mika Biereth also on their radar, according to the Scottish Sun.

Chermiti has come up with some big moments at Ibrox since making a switch to Glasgow for £9million last summer, but is still criticised by many supporters, and for good reason.

Rangers may want a new forward of their own this summer, but that may depend on the future of Chermiti, as the 49ers have to make the right call this time.

🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

Rangers can’t turn down Youssef Chermiti offer this time after £13m rejection

Rangers rejected a £13m bid from Fenerbahce for Chermiti in the January transfer window, which at the time, split the opinion of the fanbase.

Since then, it’s easy to see that the Portuguese man has gone on to improve his game, and the 49ers will surely have a higher valuation of the attacker now.

It’s thought that Gers’ valuation of the 21-year-old may be too high for PSV, as any rough figure has yet to be named.

However, if PSV were to offer in the region of £20m for Chermiti, the 49ers should see that as an offer that they simply cannot turn down.

It would pose an easy transfer profit and a second chance to make the right call in selling him to find an upgrade.

Chermiti’s best moments have come when Rangers have needed it most, but his lack of consistency in front of goal has arguably cost Danny Rohl‘s side from currently being top of the Scottish Premiership.

Who could Rangers replace Chermiti with?

Rangers will be in the market for new attackers regardless of whether Chermiti stays or goes. The likes of Andreas Skov Olsen and Mikey Moore may not stay, though extra funds may be needed to keep the latter at Ibrox.

The Bears haven’t been linked to any other number nines recently, but they already have Ryan Naderi at the club, who has been playing out of position to accommodate Chermiti.

It could be that the 49ers have a strong internal belief in Naderi to lead the front line, giving them even more reason to raise what would be the big bucks for Chermiti.

Though Chermiti has shown glimpses of what his full potential could be, the worst side of him shows that the Bears could so easily miss out on an eight-figure fee.

There’s still plenty of time left in the season, so whatever transpires could either keep the striker situation looking the same at Ibrox, or cause a domino effect across the board.
