Ibrox View: 49ers have shown their mettle as Rangers make first move with SPFL officiating talks
Rangers are leading a move for all Scottish Premiership clubs to come together and figure out how to make league officiating standards better.
The Bears feel like there have been too many refereeing mistakes this season, and have now had initial discussions with the Scottish FA’s Head of Refereeing.
Gers are also said to have raised the matter directly with the Scottish Premiership at board level, as they implore other clubs within the league to get involved.
The 49ers have tried to improve Rangers since coming to the club, but now they’ve taken it up a level by trying to improve the standard of the game for all Scottish Premiership clubs.
Rangers have had multiple decisions against them this season, but they’re not alone, as the proposed meeting will most likely be taken up by other clubs.

How Rangers have clearly gone about SPFL talks the right way
While the 49ers won’t be the only driving forces behind the proposal, they’ve certainly had to sanction whoever has tabled the idea.
But then the next issue Rangers face with it is going about the matter in the right way, and though it’s a bold move, the Bears have shown their class.

Rangers’ Scottish Cup loss to Celtic may have been the tipping point for change, but the Gers also need to look at themselves for that one.
As highlighted by Barry Anderson on X this Friday, instead of slamming the Scottish FA for their referees in particular incidents, they want to focus on how to improve the standards in the long term.
It’s no surprise that the FAB are happy to see the 49ers and Co. lead this proposal, because it puts Rangers as a vocal point for the rest of the league, in a great way.
Time will tell what the outcome of said proposal will be, but on paper, it looks like something that will benefit Scottish football in years to come, and it could be all thanks to the Gers.
This is why the 49ers are still underrated at Rangers
The 49ers have made some shocking decisions during their time at Ibrox, but how they’ve helped turn things around this season by staying proactive has been great to watch.
Kevin Thelwell was sacked out of no where after the board internally reviewed his performances from the summer transfer window, and things have only looked better since his dismissal.

Not only did Andrew Cavenagh and Co. plough plenty more millions into Rangers this winter, but they seem to have got the new additions spot on.
That goes to show they made the right choice by replacing Thelwell, and the appointment of Danny Rohl could still see silverware come to Ibrox at the end of the season.
