Ibrox View: Danny Rohl may reunite with former star to fix Rangers 'concern'
Danny Rohl could potentially turn his attention to Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce to replace Jack Butland at Rangers.
Craig Moore believes the England international may not be good enough for the Gers, with concerns raised over his position.
The former Australian defender feels that there’s always a sense that the Light Blues’ shot-stopper could make a big mistake in games to cost his team.
Charles has been on the Ibrox radar, as the German manager asked the scouting department to keep an eye on him at the Owls.
Rohl’s faith in Butland is evident, but the fact that the ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss wants to keep tabs on his former player may indicate a change is on the horizon in between the sticks at Ibrox.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Jack Butland season in numbers at Rangers
Butland has been one of the best players for the Gers this season, but there have also been a few errors that haven’t gone down well with the fanbase.
The Englishman has started in all 31 William Hill Premiership matches for the Light Blues this season, keeping 12 clean sheets and a save rate of 78 per cent, as per Sofascore.
What the 33-year-old is known for is his ability to save penalties, denying four of four he’s faced in the current league campaign.
Statistics Jack Butland Apearances 31 Goals conceded per game 0.8 Saves 92 Penalties saved 4/4 Accurate passes per game 21.2 (70%) Team of the week 4 Average Sofascore rating 7.1
Butland has conceded 26 goals, prevented 7.31 goals and has made 67 saves inside the box and 23 outside.
However, goalkeeping can be a thankless task and most people will only remember your mistakes most times, with the England international making three errors that have led to shots and three that have resulted in goals.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 1 April, Moore said, “I feel, unfortunately, that Jack, as good a goalkeeper he is and the saves that he’s made, I always have a feeling there’s a big mistake in him, and that’s a concern for me.”
Can Pierce Charles handle Ibrox pressure?
Charles is playing for a Sheffield Wednesday side who have known that they’re probably destined for relegation for most of the season after massive turmoil at Hillsborough with the ownership and subsequent points deduction.

The Northern Irishman has also been hampered by injuries this season, making just 13 Sky Bet Championship appearances.
In those matches, the 20-year-old has made 4.2 saves per game, conceded 28 goals and had a goals-prevented rate of -0.74, which isn’t necessarily encouraging.
It’s clear that the shot-stopper still has a long way to go in his career and whether he’s ready for a big move to Ibrox remains to be seen.
