Ibrox View: Director of football's comments should have Rangers fans excited by potential new signing
Danny Rohl may be about to end his wait for a new striker this winter.
Rangers have been targeting a striker throughout this winter window, with Rohl keen to ensure he’s got enough firepower at his disposal to claim victory in the Premiership title race this season.
Tawanda Maswanhise has been linked with Rangers, but a deal with Motherwell seems highly unlikely at this stage.
Rangers have also been strongly linked with Kieron Bowie, but the Hibernian star wouldn’t come cheap, and as such, also looks unlikely to be moving to Ibrox before the 2 February deadline.
Meanwhile, Rangers seem close to a departure in their strike department, with Danilo possibly heading for NEC Nijmegen on loan.

Rangers make bid for Ryan Don Naderi
As such, there are Rangers supporters who have been beginning to lose hope that their team would be boosted with the signing of a new striker this winter.
Whilst it’s true that Youssef Chermiti‘s form has improved under Rohl in recent weeks, the jury is still out on the 21-year-old, as he strives for consistency in Glasgow.
Behind him, Rangers only have Bojan Miovski and Danilo as natural centre-forward options, and with the latter seemingly headed for the exit door and the former struggling for form, that could be a major problem.
Especially if Chermiti was to get injured, as then Rohl would really be scraping the barrel and would probably need to get creative with how he formulates an attacking plan in that unwanted situation.
Therefore, it is important that Rangers welcome in a new striker before the deadline, and they may just be as close to doing that as they’ve been all winter.

It’s reported that Rangers have tabled a £2.6million bid for Ryan Naderi, with the Hansa Rostock star understood to be very keen on a move to Glasgow.
Talks between the two clubs are reportedly well underway, with an agreement hoping to be reached before the end of the window.
Rangers could be signing ‘classic centre-forward’ in Naderi
At just 22 and plying his trade in the German third division, Naderi is a player that few Rangers supporters will have been aware of before Monday’s transfer developments.
Therefore, to find out more information on their potential new recruit, it can be best to search back through archives to see what people have said about the former Borussia Monchengladbach talent.
And, speaking in an August 2024 interview via Kicker after signing for Hansa Rostock from Monchengladbach, Amir Shapourzadeh, Hansa Rostock’s director of professional football, offered some insight.
Shapourzadeh described Naderi as a “classic centre-forward with a lot of potential for development”.
