Ibrox View: Rangers must include sell-on clause for star who may have big second transfer

Rangers are surely in line to profit from Emmanuel Fernandez in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

The Gers signed the defender from Peterborough United for around £3million last summer and he has become a key player under Danny Rohl after a slow start to his career in Govan.

Teams like Arsenal have their eyes on Fernandez after his monumental rise in the current campaign and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a big-money offer arrive for the Nigeria international in the summer.

And if he goes in the summertime to the right club, potentially you could see him three or four years down the line, maybe going for even more money. I think he has all the attributes to be a really top defender in the top leagues. It just depends on how his development goes and who helps him with that.”

Fernandez and Djiga have formed an exceptional partnership at Rangers in recent weeks and Rohl wouldn’t want to lose both of them in the summer.

The Burkina Faso international will go back to Wolves once his loan spell at Ibrox expires, but the Gers should be doing everything in their power to re-sign him.

With the two African defenders in the heart of the Glaswegian outfit’s defence, the German manager may be able to sustain success in G51 for years to come.

While it would be ideal for the Light Blues to keep both Fernandez and Djiga, the priority should be not to lose both of them in the same window.
