Ibrox View: Rangers surely regret the sale of ‘magic’ star after super scenes for Euro club

Hamza Igamane has quickly adapted to life in Lille since his move away from Rangers in the summer.

The winger was one of the Gers’ best players last season and commanded a £10.4million fee to leave Ibrox for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Since then, the Moroccan international has been loving life in France, scoring for fun, while Rangers slummed to a 0-0 draw with Falkirk.

Now, Igamane has hit headlines once again in Ligue 1 for his dramatic late winner against Le Havre.

Hamza Igamane hits late winner for 10-man Lille

While Rangers’ attack has been awful this season, many of their former players have been on fine form.

Perhaps the best example is Igamane, who has been sensational for Lille.

This will come to no surprise for many fans, will Ally McCoist once labelling Igamane as “magic” at Rangers.

On Sunday, he scored his most memorable goal yet. With Lille down to 10 men, he managed to keep hold of the ball up top, despite having numerous players around him, before laying it off to a teammate.

From here, he burst into the box ready to tap the ball into the net to take home an unexpected three points.

On a day where Rangers couldn’t even get past Falkirk, Igamane shows exactly what they are missing.

That attacking intent and instinct have been non-existent this season, with many players under both Russell Martin and Danny Rohl showing they are simply not good enough.

Therefore, it is becoming clearer by the day that the sale of Igamane was a mistake.

How good has Igamane been at Lille?

On top of his goals, Igamane has been sensational in Ligue 1.

According to Fotmob on 30 November, the winger has been excellent, averaging 0.22 assists and 5.15 shots per 90 minutes.

This is the type of player that Rohl is missing in his starting XI, someone who is not afraid to make something happen.

Hopefully, a proper replacement for the winger can be found soon so that Rangers can once again attack with ease.
