Ibrox View: Rohl surely still believes in 10-app ace as details of Rangers exit emerge

Rangers star Lyall Cameron’s loan exit to Aberdeen has been confirmed.

Cameron joined Rangers in the summer, but has been unable to carve out a regular role under either Russell Martin or Danny Rohl.

The former Dundee midfielder has made just 10 appearances for the Ibrox outfit since he signed as a free transfer.

However, Rohl appears to still have faith in the 23-year-old after new details about his departure were revealed.

Rangers rejected Aberdeen request in Lyall Cameron negotiations

Cameron has only featured three times under Rohl, with all of his appearances under the German coming from the bench, for a total of 13 minutes.

Despite that, it seems like the Gers boss is unwilling to let him leave on a permanent deal, as fresh information emerged about his exit.

Daily Record reporter Scott Burns revealed on 16 January that the Dons tried for a buy option in the deal, but the Gers refused that request, and it is a straight loan.

Why Rohl must still believe in Cameron

If Rohl did not believe that Cameron could not come good for his side, then surely he would have sanctioned an option to buy.

The 12-cap Scotland Under-21 international has found himself behind the likes of Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande, Connor Barron and new man Tochi Chukwuani in the central midfield.

While he can also play on the flanks, the Gers have a lot of options in that position too, with new addition Andreas Skov Olsen, Djeidi Gassama, Thelo Aasgaard, Mikey Moore, and the injured Oliver Antman.

Rangers’ options on the wings.

Therefore, it is clear that the ex-Sheffield Wednesday man wants the young maestro to play regularly in the Scottish Premiership, and he is not going to get that with the Light Blues, but still values his talent.

If he did not, then he would have given the Pittodrie outfit the chance to buy him permanently after his temporary spell.

There is still a chance for Cameron to succeed in Govan, he needs to perform on loan with the The Reds and come back to the Gers with an attitude ready to step up, and he may have an opportunity under Rohl.
