Iliman Ndiaye’s Everton future up in the air with Europe pursuit key to deal

Iliman Ndiaye could be set to leave Everton this summer if European football is not secured at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees are set to field offers from several suitors this summer for the winger, who cost just £15million to sign from Marseille in 2024.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a superb season for Everton, and will be key to their hopes of returning to European competition.

David Moyes’ team currently sit eighth in the Premier League – a position that could guarantee Conference League qualification.

Everton transfer chiefs will be bracing for the potential departure of Ndiaye, but he could still be convinced to extend his stay.

European qualification to be key for Everton

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Everton won’t entertain offers for Ndiaye this summer, despite mounting interest in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old is under contract until 2029 and has not, so far, indicated a desire to leave Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, should the Senegal international begin to make it clear that his future lies elsewhere, the Toffees will be left in a difficult position.

Everton do not want to sell Ndiaye, with his importance to Moyes’ team proven on a weekly basis, but they will not want to keep an unhappy player either.

European football could well be decisive, with the winger undoubtedly keen to add to the 14 Europa League appearances he earned at Marseille.

Everton have been handed a superb chance to qualify for the Conference League next season, after Arsenal’s victory over Sporting CP on Tuesday confirmed that England would get a fifth Champions League spot.

Should Manchester City or Chelsea finish in the top seven and win the FA Cup, the Conference League spot will go down to the team that finishes eighth.

Iliman Ndiaye comments provide hope

Ndiaye continues to appear committed to Everton, and the passion in his celebrations often tells the story of what his intentions are.

Fans will be well aware that things can change very quickly, however, and interest from the likes of Manchester United could see the winger’s attitude flip.

“I was always very keen to stay here and be part of this new chapter for Everton,” he told Everton in January.

“As I always say, if there are rumours or interest and things like that, it must mean you’re doing something right, right?!

“I am really happy to be at this club and be part of a new project with the new stadium, new ownership. It feels like a new adventure for all of us.

“I want to achieve things with Everton, I want to win trophies, which the club hasn’t seen for too long, and things like that. It’s an aim for us to work towards.”

Ndiaye’s words are overwhelmingly positive, but the Toffees will imagine that a trip into Europe would not hurt, either.
