Jack Butland likely to follow James Tavernier out Ibrox exit doors as Rangers transfer plans emerge
Jack Butland could be the next big name to depart Rangers as Danny Rohl prepares for a huge summer transfer window at Ibrox.
James Tavernier announced the decision to bring an end to his 11 years in Glasgow on Tuesday, 22 April, despite still playing a huge role in the Gers’ 2025-26 campaign from defence.
Although Rohl’s side have a very real chance of lifting the Scottish Premiership title this season, sitting just one point behind league leaders Hearts, the squad could do with a massive overhaul this summer.
As part of the overhaul, Butland could be next to leave Rangers after three years at the club, especially with transfer targets emerging at Ibrox ahead of the upcoming window.

Pierce Charles has emerged as a key target at Rangers
Butland may still have one more season left on his deal at Ibrox, but the 33-year-old continues to be ripped to shreds by the fanbase, producing far too many mistakes in between the sticks.
Liam Kelly’s future is also up in the air, with the back-up goalkeeper’s contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, so Rohl may have to target two shot-stoppers this summer.
According to talkSPORT, the Light Blues are already facing competition from Old Firm rivals Celtic for the signature of Pierce Charles, who has impressed immensely, despite Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation.
Pierce Charles’ 2025-26 Championship campaign Stats [FotMob] Games played 17 Goals conceded 32 Save percentage 69.5% Clean sheets 2 Errors leading to goals 0 Passing accuracy 57.7% Assists 1 Average rating 7.03
The 20-year-old has made a huge impression in the Championship, despite his side’s demise during the 2025-26 campaign, and clubs around Europe are keeping tabs on the talented keeper.
Who else could leave Ibrox this summer?
There are various stars who could depart for very different reasons, whether that be because of a very successful campaign or supporters not being impressed by them in the slightest.
Unsurprisingly, Rangers want to keep Mikey Moore and Nasser Djiga following their loan spells, while Andreas Skov Olsen has failed to show why the club should sign him permanently.
In addition to them, Emmanuel Fernandez and Nico Raskin are both being scouted by clubs across Europe, with a move to the Premier League looking like the most likely outcome right now.
Rohl could be facing quite an overhaul during the summer months, and sealing a new goalkeeper signing should be top of their priorities ahead of next season.
