James Maddison and Fikayo Tomori react to Dominic Solanke announcement at Tottenham

Dominic Solanke has provided Tottenham Hotspur with a rare moment of positivity amongst the relegation fears this season.

The 28-year-old’s campaign has been rather injury-plagued, playing just 15 games across all competitions, but the striker has still managed to rack up six goals in that time.

Spurs, in general, have been plagued by injuries, with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kuds now being joined by Cristian Romero and Conor Gallagher ahead of facing Liverpool on Sunday, 15 March.

Tottenham’s transfer plans are on hold while their league status is uncertain ahead of next season. However, Solanke may have given the Lilywhites a reason not to sign a new striker in the summer.

Dominic Solanke wins spectular award at Tottenham

While he may not have netted many goals, one of them caught the attention of fans up and down the Premier League, firing a scorpion kick past Man City during February.

The effort has now seen Solanke win Goal of the Month for last month.

Taking to Instagram (13 March), the official club account wrote: “Dominic Solanke has won the Premier League Goal of the Month award for his stunning scorpion kick vs Man City.

“Congratulations, Dom,” with clapping and scorpion emojis. The post gained a lot of attention, with James Maddison and AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori among those liking the announcement on social media.

What’s next for the Tottenham striker?

Solanke’s future at Hotspur Way could largely depend on their survival this season.

In January, Football Insider understood that Solanke wanted to stay and fight in North London, despite rumours that Thomas Frank was considering offloading the former Bournemouth man.

Now, Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, with concerns over both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, who have struggled since their summer moves to St James’ Park.

There is very little chance that Solanke would want to stay with the Lilywhites should they get relegated this season, and right now, there is a very real possibility of that happening.

Of course, Igor Tudor is working extremely hard to save Spurs from relegation, but he has made very little impact so far.
