Eddie Howe is reportedly a big fan of West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen, who could be among Newcastle United’s targets this summer.

The England international has scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League this season despite his team’s struggles, which could still result in relegation.

The Hammers are 18th in the league and one point behind Tottenham, but with a significantly worse goal difference.

Bowen is under contract at the London Stadium until 2030, but at the age of 29, his willingness to play Championship football is in doubt.

Newcastle transfer chiefs have Anthony Gordon’s future to think about before anything else, with the winger heavily linked with an exit.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider this week that Gordon has his eyes set on a move to Bayern Munich this summer, despite interest elsewhere.

The England international is also reportedly of interest to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and even Barcelona, with the likelihood of a move away gaining momentum.

Gordon is under contract at St James’ Park until 2030, but financial constraints at Newcastle may demand a big sale this summer.

The 25-year-old appears to be the likeliest sacrifice, with the Magpies likely hoping a strong World Cup tournament can prompt a bidding war.

Gordon has scored 17 goals this season and would be a big miss, but there are no more potentially available replacements that are more capable than Bowen.

He ranks over Gordon for two key metrics this season, including assists and recoveries per 90 minutes played in this season’s Premier League.

According to talkSPORT, the winger is willing to stay at West Ham if they avoid the drop, but could push for a move if they are relegated.

Howe is known to be a long-time admirer of Bowen, who has produced double figures of direct goal contributions in the Premier League for the sixth consecutive campaign.

The 29-year-old is more natural to the right side, while Gordon usually occupies the left, but it is their winger’s goals and assists that Newcastle will chiefly be intent on replacing.

Bayern Munich close in on Gordon

Newcastle would prefer to keep Gordon at St James’ Park this summer. The winger is a key part of Howe’s attack, and the star man going forward after Alexander Isak left.

But they will not be unrealistic about the situation that they are to find themselves in over the coming months.

If a sale is required, Gordon represents both a sizable price tag and a replaceable attacker for Newcastle.

The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Bayern have now made formal exploratory contact with the Magpies ahead of a potential move, as they look to jump the queue.

Any move will likely have to wait until after the World Cup, with Gordon likely to join Thomas Tuchel’s England camp.
