Liam Rosenior claims Chelsea player he hasn’t used yet has actually been ‘massive’ for him

Liam Rosenior has had a really strong start to life as the manager of Chelsea.

Aside from the Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal, Rosenior has won every single game he’s managed for the Blues so far, and he’s done so in fine style.

Chelsea seem to be resurgent under their new manager, and they’ll be hoping to continue their good form against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rosenior has been discussing his start to life at Stamford Bridge, and he noted that he’s been helped by a number of his senior players stepping up as leaders.

As you can imagine, Reece James and Enzo Fernandez as the captain and vice captain have been influential, but according to Rosenior, there’s another player who has been ‘massive’ behind-the-scenes.

Levi Colwill has been massive for Liam Rosenior

Rosenior spoke about the leaders in his Chelsea team and he mentioned Levi Colwill as someone who has had a big impact.

Colwill has missed the entirety of the season so far with injury, and while Liam Rosenior has yet to use Colwill due to his injury issues, he clearly values his skills as a leader.

Colwill has been praised in the past for his footballing ability, but now, it seems he’s also stepping up as a leader.

“Reece is an amazing captain, Enzo as vice captain. Levi Colwill, even though he’s not been training, is a massive part of the leadership group,” Rosenior said.

“Trevor Chalobah, I’ve had conversations with all of them. And I’m open, they’re the ones playing.

“You know, they have to tell me how they’re feeling on the pitch. I don’t think they’re used to the amount of questions that I ask them sometimes. But it’s the players who win you games of football. So, they need to feel comfortable in the game plan or the way that we train or the way that we play.”

When is Levi Colwill back from injury?

Colwill has missed the entirety of this season after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season.

As many football fans know only too well, ACL issues can easily take 12 months away from any player, but, excitingly, it seems like Colwill isn’t miles away from returning.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the West Ham game, Rosenior confirmed that Colwill is back running on the grass, but he noted he won’t return until he’s 100% fit.

“I spoke to him this morning. He’s really good. What a professional. He’s working so hard. It’s been brilliant to see him back on the pitch running,” Rosenior said.

“He’s itching to get back. But we need to make sure he feels 100% perfect when he’s back.

“What a professional… I can’t wait to work with [him].”

Colwill returning would be a huge boost to this Chelsea team, that’s for sure.
