Liverpool now ready to terminate deal so Andy Robertson can join Tottenham

Tottenham are edging closer towards signing Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson.

Tottenham have been busy in the transfer window, with Conor Gallagher’s arrival from Atletico Madrid being their marquee signing so far.

However, Tottenham are now interested in Robertson, and they are expecting to complete a deal before the transfer deadline on 2 February.

Thomas Frank is under pressure at Spurs, and he’ll be eagerly waiting to see if they can get the move over the line for one of the best full-backs in the world.

Tottenham have now been given a good omen as Liverpool have attempted to end another player’s deal.

Liverpool aiming to recall Kostantinos Tsimikas from loan spell

Although Liverpool have Milos Kerkez as their first-choice left-back, selling Robertson to a Premier League rival would leave them light on options.

TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has revealed that Liverpool want to terminate Konstantinos Tsimikas’ loan spell at Roma to allow Robertson to join Tottenham.

The Scotland international is keen on the move to N17 as he’s in search of more game time in the top flight.

Fabrizio Romano also reported that Spurs have sent an official bid to Liverpool for the 31-year-old, and that negotiations are well under way.

Although there is no clause that allows the Reds to recall Tsimikas, they have reportedly been given the green light as the Greek full-back wants to return to Anfield.

This is incredibly promising news for Frank, who is desperate to have a left-back in his team who he can trust.

More importantly, they’ll have a two-time Premier League winner who can help them get out of the mess they’re currently in.

Andy Robertson would give Tottenham some much-needed leadership

Not only has he been one of the best players in the Premier League over the past decade, but he is also known for being a leader in the dressing room.

On the international stage, Robertson has been the Scotland captain since September 2018 and led his country to the European Championships in 2020 and 2024.

In November, he helped Scotland secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

At Liverpool, he was instrumental in their rise under Jurgen Klopp, winning the Champions League by beating Spurs in the final in 2019.

With over 600 appearances in club football, the 31-year-old has proven himself to be reliable, and Tottenham are in desperate need of a leader who can drag them out of the mud.

The more senior figures there are in the dressing room, the more likely it is that Frank avoids getting sacked in the coming weeks.
