Man City: Matheus Nunes future in doubt as Pedro Porro deal signals end of right-back experiment
Manchester City are plotting a summer move for Tottenham star Pedro Porro which is set to have a major impact on the future of Matheus Nunes at the Etihad.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Sunday that the Citizens are chasing a move to re-sign the right-back this summer, as they look to add to their squad ahead of another Premier League title push next term.
The 26-year-old is currently in the midst of a relegation battle with Tottenham, and the uncertainty surrounding their position in the top flight could potentially result in him leaving for a new challenge this summer.
Manchester City’s transfer plans have already incorporated a move to bring the Spaniard back to the Etihad Stadium after four years away, and that looks set to have a serious knock-on effect for Nunes.

Matheus Nunes to attract Premier League interest
Football Insider revealed at the end of February that Pep Guardiola and Co. are keen to replace Nunes as the starting right-back ahead of next season, due to their desire to bring in a specialist in the position.
That has seen the Portuguese’s future at the Etihad called into question in recent weeks, and he would potentially be shown the door if a move for Porro did materialise.
At 27, Nunes will want to be playing regular football at this stage of his career as he prepares to enter his prime years, and if Porro joined the ranks at City, then it would surely signal the start of him receiving limited gametime.
However, there is no doubt that he has performed well enough as a makeshift right-back this season that other Premier League clubs would jump at the chance to bring him in if City made him available.
He is among the leaders in their squad when it comes to both tackles and interceptions per 90, while he has also contributed in an attacking sense with an impressive four assists.
Guardiola may have converted him into a right-sided defender out of necessity in recent years, but the former Wolves man could undoubtedly still do a steady job in the centre of midfield.

His versatility would be invaluable to another Premier League side, and as a result, he would surely not be short of suitors if City decided to ship him out.
Effects of City Football Group losses revealed
Football Insider revealed on Sunday that City’s summer spending plans will not be affected despite the extensive losses made by their City Football Group ownership.
CFG recently filed their accounts for the 2024-25 campaign, and their losses were revealed to stand at an eye-watering £292.3million, despite the fact they were just £122.2m in the previous season.
Their total revenue also took a noticeable hit of around £50m, but the effects are not set to be felt too drastically at the Etihad.
The club embarked on plans to regenerate their squad during last summer’s transfer window, and their plans to continue with that this time around remain in place, despite their wider financial landscape.
